The International Symposium on Flow Visualization originated in Tokyo (Japan) in 1977 and continued in Bochum (Germany) in 1980, Ann Arbor, Michigan (USA) in 1983, Paris (France) in 1986, Prague (Czechoslovakia) in 1989, Yokohama (Japan) in 1992, Seattle, Washington (USA) in 1995, Sorrento (Italy) in 1998, Edinburgh (UK) in 2000, Kyoto (Japan) in 2002, Notre Dame, Indiana (USA) in 2004, Gцttingen (Germany) in 2006, Nice (France) in 2008 and in Daegu (Korea) in 2010. The objective of the ISFV-Symposia-series is to provide a forum for the exchange of information within the broad field of flow visualization.
