Main Research Directions


  • Study of heat and mass transfer processes in heat pipes (miniature, microcontour, sorption, pulsation heat pipes, with sintered power structure, with longitudinal grooves, with micro-and nanodimensional porous coatings, heat pipes of large length, vapor dynamic thermal siphons, etc.);
  • Development and investigation of new heat pipes for thermal regulation of spacecrafts;
  • Study of heat and mass transfer processes in the sorption systems for heat and cold generation. Development and testing of heat pumps and refrigerators for systems of energy co-generation and tri-generation with heat utilization of alterative energy sources (soil, subsoil waters, solar radiation energy, water ponds) and secondary energy resources (exhaust gases of boilers and furnaces, waster water and steam of thermoelectric power stations and boilers);
  • Designing of storage and transportation systems of natural gas, hydrogen, and ammonia in the sorbent-bounded state at low pressure;
  • Numerical modeling of heat and mass transfer processes in gas tanks on the basis of the two-dimensional non-equilibrium model;
  • Experimental investigation of heat transfer involving boiling and evaporation of hydrocarbon in mini-channels with a porous nanocoating.
  • Development of calculation methods of heat and mass transfer at evaporation in a porous coating;
  • Investigation of the processes of heat and mass transfer at vacuum-sorption drying of wood, at vacuum conductive-sorption drying of medical preparations.

Perspective directions for proposed works and cooperation


  • New designs of heat pipes for spacecrafts;
  • Energy utilization of secondary energy resources (exhaust gases of boilers and furnaces, waste water and steam of thermoelectric power stations and boilers) by means of sorption heat pumps and heat-pipe-based heat exchangers;
  • Energy utilization of alternative sources (soil, subsoil waters, solar radiation energy, water ponds) by means of heat pipes and sorption heat pumps;
  • Designing of ecologically pure conditioning and ventilation systems for transport and living quarters;
  • Cooling and thermal regulation of micro-and optoelectronics, laser technology with the use of capillary-porous structures and heat pipes;
  • Designing of sorption heat pumps and long heat pipes for room heating with the use of soil heat and solar radiation;
  • Designing of vacuum-sorption drying and heat-insulation installations;
  • Designing of sorption refrigerators for conditioning systems;
  • Designing of heat and cold accumulators;
  • Designing of new tanks for storage and transportation of natural gas, hydrogen, and methane in the sorbent-bound state at low pressure.
