We have elaborated a method for recording scattered and directed radiation flows supplied to the side surface of the optical fiber based on measurement of the luminous flux diffusely scattered by the technological microdefects of the optical fiber. It has been established that the scattered flux is concentrated mainly in the optical fiber cladding. The detector sensitivity to the radiation from a gas flame, a laser diode, and background sources has been investigated. I. N.
