MASS TRANSFER AND OSMOTIC PHENOMENA IN SWOLLEN ORGANIC SUBSTANCES
N. I. Gamayunov and S. N. Gamayunov UDC 532.7:536.24 The mechanisms of mass transfer under the action of the hydrostatic-pressure, temperature, and dissolved-salt concentration gradients and electroosmosis in swollen heterogeneous organic materials have been considered. Mass transfer is similar to the migration of water and solutes in ordinary solutions and represents discrete translational displacements of particles. It is accompanied by ion-exchange processes and leads to a change in the structure of the material. Tver' State Technical University, Tver', Russia; email: sng61@mail.ru.
