INFLUENCE OF NONUNIFORMITY OF THE TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION IN THE KNUDSEN LAYER ON THE VELOCITY OF THERMAL SLIP OF A RAREFIED GAS ALONG A CURVED SURFACE
A. V. Latyshev,a V. N. Popov,b and A. A. Yushkanova UDC 533.72 The correction to the velocity of thermal slip of a rarefied gas along the surface of a sphere has been calculated; the correction allows for the presence of the second-order mixed derivative of temperature. For this purpose we constructed an exact solution of the Boltzmann inhomogeneous kinetic equation with the collision operator in the form of an ellipsoidal statistical model. The results obtained confirm the existence of negative (in the direction of the temperature gradient) thermophoresis of highly heat-conducting aerosol particles at small values of the Knudsen number. Comparison with the literature data has been made. aMoscow State Regional University, Moscow, Russia; email: latyshev@orc.ru; bPomor'e State University, Pomor'e, Russia; email: popov.vasily@pomorsu.ru.
