O. V. Roman, S. K. Andilevko, S. S. Karpenko, G. S. Romanov, and V. A. Shilkin UDC 534.2 The effect of superdeep penetration was revealed in the late 1970s and, before long, attracted the attention of researchers and was used as the subject of study for a number of original works. The experimental study of superdeep penetration was accompanied by the development of hypotheses concerning its physical explanation. The effort made by the researchers in different organizations to study the process made it possible to find a number of properties and characteristic features inherent in this phenomenon. The aim of the present work is to systematize and analyze the information accumulated at present, which must provide the basis for further investigations. A. V.
