NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF EXPLOSIVE VOLCANIC ERUPTION IN THE INITIAL STAGE
N. A. Kudryashov,a G. S. Romanov,b and A. F. Shevyakova UDC 519.6 In an approximation of the two-dimensional dynamics of a monodisperse collisionless gas suspension, the initial stage of explosive volcanic eruption is modeled. Plots of the amplitude of a shock wave versus the distance in the initial stage are constructed. The general picture of change in the dust concentration near a volcano crater is given. The dependence of the height of a gas-dust column on the explosion energy and the dynamics of ash ejection on volcanic eruption are investigated. aMoscow Engineering Physics Institute (Technical University), Moscow, Russia; bA.
