Experiments to study the conditions for thermal-to-kinetic
energy transition for an isolated vortex are described. On
the basis of laboratory and full-scale measurements it is
proved that the individuality of an isolated vortex is
characterized by an energy similarity criterion, which is
equal to the ratio of the kinetic energy to the potential
energy of the vortex.
