The main factors affecting growth of bubbles in blood
upon decompression are discussed. Most attention is
paid to the role of rheological effects. It is shown
that viscoelasticity of blood can be neglected in
description of evolution of gaseous microbubbles.
Conditions for manifestation of nonlinear viscous
properties of blood in this problem are discussed.
