Results of a numerical study of borating of iron with
allowance for the kinetics of chemical reactions are
presented. It is shown that the chemical potential of
the external source of boron exerts the main effect
on the composition and size of the borides. The existence
of an intermediate region consisting of FeB and Fe2B
is detected.
